Severe weather threat

High wind warning out for Wise County, the Cumberland Plateau and TN/NC mountains, wind advisory out elsewhere. Winds expect to become stronger especially as the front nears. Possibility that some of the showers and storms will be severe tomorrow. A squall line of showers and storms is expected to form ahead of the front and spread east through the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys an move into this area Wednesday afternoon/evening. Damaging straight line winds the main threat, along with a hail and maybe an isolate tornado threat, especially if there's enough instability to develop in this area. The SPC has the area in a "sight risk" category for severe weather at the moment.

... Windy conditions and a possibile outbreak of severe weather Wednesday and Wednesday night...

A strong low pressure system developing over the Southern Plains will move toward the Ohio and Tennessee valleys on Wednesday. Tightening pressure gradients around this system will increase the southerly winds over the area Wednesday. Windy conditions are expected area-wide. Southerly winds between 25 and 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph are anticipated across the higher elevations with 20 to 35 mph winds common over the great Tennessee Valley. The strong southerly winds will bring warm... moist and unstable air into the region in advance of an approaching cold front.

A line of thunderstorms will develop along the front... and move into the southern appalachian region by Wednesday afternoon and evening. This squall line will have the capability of producing widespread damaging winds. In addition... an isolated tornado or two will be possible.

Tornado watch out for central KY and middle TN as squall line moves through the states. Numerous warnings (and a few tornado warnings popping up) all along the line. SPC indicating that the watch may be extend eastward toward or to include this area soon.

Squall line beginning to enter the area now. Severe thunderstorm warning out for Lee County (and others crossing down into TN) until 5:30. Some tornado warnings have still been popping up occasionally though with this line of storms.
